Battle

Loud voices
Anger, frustration
Shouting, dissatisfaction
Anguish
Silence
Dispair
Is this all there is to life?

Unheard tears
Running down from puffy red eyes, swollen red cheeks
Falling softly,
Discretely
Leaving invisible stains of sadness on the pillows
Is this all there is to life?

When do we meet in the middle
And come to a mutual understanding?
How do we rid ourselves of these shackles so binding?
How do we free ourselves from this cruel empty world?

Love is what we seek, what we need
But not one gives a shoulder to cry on
At least not without ulterior motive
Is this all there is to life?

But do not fret, do not cry
Stay strong, for who else will be there for you if not yourself?
Who else will care for you if not yourself?
No one will try to understand your pain
When they know they’ve got nothing to gain

Barriers, we put up like shields we wear as armor
Distractions, we use to temporarily forget our sorrows
Unhealthy routines and lethargy
Is this all there is to life?

No..pick yourself up! Get out, be free!
Your life should be how you choose it to be!
Stop seeking love in places you ought not to be
Stop running on your broken legs and allow yourself to heal
Things will come to you eventually
Remember a closed door only means there’s better elsewhere to see
I’m going to rise above all this strife
I won’t allow this to be all there is in my life
